How to Stop Feeling Guilty About Wanting More Money

Most of us have been taught that wanting more money somehow makes us greedy, selfish, or ungrateful.
We grow up hearing things like “money doesn’t buy happiness” or “be thankful for what you have,” and while gratitude is powerful, those messages can quietly program us to believe that desiring more - more success, more wealth, more comfort - is wrong.
But here’s the truth, I learned a lot too late in life: there’s nothing wrong with wanting more money. In fact, it’s one of the most empowering things you can own.
Let’s talk about why so many women feel guilty for wanting financial abundance and how to finally release that guilt so you can step into overflow without apology.
1. Guilt Comes from the Stories We’ve Been Told
From a young age like me, many of you may have absorb the idea that money is “bad” or “corrupts people.” Maybe you saw your parents struggle with bills, or maybe you heard adults talk about “rich people” as selfish or lucky.
Those beliefs sink deep. And as women, we’re often praised for being selfless — for giving, not receiving. So when you start to want more, that desire can feel… uncomfortable.
But here’s the truth: wanting more money doesn’t mean you’re ungrateful. It means you’re growing.
You can be thankful for what you have and still desire more. Gratitude and ambition can — and should — coexist.
2. Money Isn’t Evil - It’s Energy
Money doesn’t have a personality. It doesn’t make you good or bad. It simply amplifies who you already are.
If you’re kind, generous, and purpose-driven now, having more money will only allow you to do more good, donate, build, support, expand and empower others.
Money gives you options. Freedom. Time. It’s not something to fear or feel guilty about, it’s something to master.
You deserve to live comfortably, not constantly stressed about how to make ends meet.
3. You Can Want More Without Being “Too Much”
Society still shames ambitious women. We’re told to “be humble,” “be content,” or “not ask for too much.”
But playing small doesn’t make you more spiritual, kind, or feminine, it just keeps you stuck.
You’re allowed to want the nice home, the designer bag, the thriving business, and the freedom to travel first class, all at once. You’re allowed to create a life that feels luxurious, peaceful, and abundant.
Your desire for more doesn’t make you shallow. It makes you self-aware. You’ve realised that you want to experience more of what life has to offer and that’s a beautiful thing.
4. Rewrite the Narrative
If you’ve been conditioned to feel bad about wanting more, it’s time to rewrite that story.
Here’s how to start:
1. Acknowledge the guilt – Say out loud, “I’ve been made to feel guilty for wanting more, but that guilt isn’t mine to carry anymore.”
2. Celebrate abundance in others – When another woman succeeds, remind yourself that her success expands what’s possible for you too.
3. Surround yourself with wealth energy – Follow creators, podcasts, and mentors who speak confidently about money and success. Their energy is contagious.
4. Create new money affirmations – Try:
✦“I am worthy of wealth.”
“✦Money flows easily and freely to me.”
✦“It’s safe for me to desire more.”
5. Invest in yourself
Every time you invest in your growth, you tell the universe, I trust myself to create more.
6. More Money = More Impact
Here’s something worth remembering: money multiplies your ability to serve. When you’re financially free, you can give without fear. You can help your family, support your community, fund your dreams, and invest in causes that matter to you.
When women earn more, we change the world, because we pour that wealth back into people, purpose, and progress.
You’re not taking from anyone else by wanting more. There’s no limit to abundance. The pie isn’t finite, you can create more slices for everyone.
It’s time to stop apologising for wanting more. You’re not greedy. You’re not ungrateful. You’re evolving.
You were never meant to live small. You were meant to expand, to create, to thrive and yes, to have wealth that supports your peace and purpose.
So repeat after me:
“It’s safe for me to want more. I am worthy of wealth. And I will never feel guilty for desiring the life I deserve.”
