In essence you have two minds which are your conscious and subconscious. Your conscious mind deals with your daily interactions with the world and provides you with information via your 5 senses of sight, sound, touch, smell and taste.
From the moment you are awake you have a constant stream of thoughts swirling around in your conscious mind. These thoughts can either be negative and harmful to you or positive and empowering. The way that you choose to act or to react to a specific situation is partly due to your conscious mind and a lot to do with your subconscious mind.
Your subconscious mind operates on autopilot and makes up 95 percent of your brain power. It never sleeps or rests and is not only responsible for every vital processes and functioning of the body such as breathing, eating and the operations of our internal organs, it also permanently stores everything that has ever happened to you.
All of your emotions, beliefs, values and life habits are stored in your subconscious mind . And providing that the beliefs and habits you hold are empowering they will serve you well but if they are limited they will hold you back and put a stranglehold on your life. For example, a belief that tells you not to step in front of a moving car is life protecting and empowering. But a belief that tells you that you are never going to be successful is a limited belief and one that you must change if you want to achieve success in life.
The good news is that you do not have to live with the negative beliefs and habits that exist in your subconscious mind can reprogram your subconscious mind to be positive and empowering. This all starts by controlling what enters your subconscious from your conscious mind.
It really is a “garbage in garbage out” scenario. If you continually feed your subconscious with negativity through the thoughts in your conscious mind then your subconscious will work against you. Your subconscious mind does not distinguish between positive and negative thoughts or what is real or imagined. It simply accepts what your conscious mind feeds it.
The same is true for limiting beliefs concerning money. Maybe you were told as a child that “money doesn’t grow on trees”. This is a classic saying that many people tell their children. The problem here is that this can lead your subconscious to hold the belief that making money is always going to be difficult for you.
If you want to change or upgrade you life to one that is successful and empowering then you have to control your thoughts. You must ensure that only positive and empowering thoughts permeate through to your subconscious. Your conscious mind is the gatekeeper to your subconscious and if you focus on something often enough with your conscious mind then this will feed your subconscious.
One of the most powerful ways that you can over ride and re-write negative thinking with positive thinking is by using affirmations. Affirmations are positive statements that when repeated regularly can change negative behaviours and limited thinking. For example, if you believe the thought that you cannot do something then counter this with a positive affirmation such as
“I can do anything”. " I believe in myself and my ability to create the successful life I desire ."
Don't worry if you don't believe it at first, just continue to repeat the positive statements regularly and often. Use positive affirmations alongside visualisation to transform your subconscious mind and you will be amazed at how your mindset will change from dis-empowering to one that is positive and empowering.
