World Mental Health Day: Let’s Talk About What We Don’t Talk About Enough

Every year on October 10th, the world pauses for a moment to talk about something that touches every single one of us — mental health.
But here’s the truth: we shouldn’t just be talking about it today. We should be living this conversation every day. Because behind the strong smiles, the “I’m fine” texts, and the hustle culture highlight reels, so many of us are fighting battles no one sees.
And Queen if that’s you right now, I want you to know something from the bottom of my heart: you’re not broken. You’re human.
The Pressure to Always Be “Okay”
As women, we’re taught to hold it all together to be the glue, the rock, the one who keeps everything running even when we’re running on empty. We show up for everyone else for our families, our careers, our friends and somewhere along the line, we forget to show up for ourselves.
But here’s the truth they don’t tell you:You don’t have to be strong every second of every day. You don’t need to wear your resilience like armour. You are allowed to rest. You are allowed to cry. You are allowed to say, “Today, I’m not okay.”
Because real strength isn’t pretending everything’s fine.Real strength is being honest about when it’s not.
Healing Isn’t Linear
Healing isn’t a straight line it’s messy, emotional, and beautifully imperfect. Some days you’ll feel powerful and unstoppable. Other days, getting out of bed will feel like climbing a mountain.
And both days count. Both days are part of your story.
So stop judging your journey by how “together” you appear to be. Instead, honour the progress no one sees the quiet moments when you choose to keep going even when your heart feels heavy.
That’s the kind of strength that doesn’t make headlines but changes lives.
Let’s Normalise the Conversation
The theme of this year’s World Mental Health Day is a reminder that mental health is a universal human right. That means you deserve peace. You deserve access to help. You deserve to prioritise your wellbeing without guilt.
So let’s keep talking about therapy. Let’s keep checking in on our friends and ourselves. Let’s build communities that say,“I see you.”“I hear you.”“And I’m with you.”
Because when women come together to support each other’s healing, we become unstoppable.
A Message to You, Queen
If you’re reading this and you’ve been struggling please know this:You are not alone. You are not weak. And this low moment will not define you.
You are still worthy of love, of peace, and of joy even on the days you can’t see it yet. Keep going, at your own pace, in your own way. And remember, healing isn’t about becoming someone new. It’s about coming home to yourself.
Final Word
Today, let’s promise to be softer with ourselves. To rest when we need to. To speak up when we’re struggling. To support other women in their battles.
Because together, we are stronger. Together, we slay not just in our wins, but in our healing too.
